Hakodate City will not let Hokkaido down when it comes to food. This was our lunch when we stayed at Hakodate, seafood donburi composed of kani (crab meat), uni (sea urchin), and salmon roe. This bowl costs ~¥1,500.

Niigata’s Karekatsu is not to be missed if you happen to be in this lovely place. The tasty pork covered with thin layer of batter is famous in Japan. We had our lunch at Matsunomiya, a few blocks away from Niigata Station. Price is ¥550 per order.

Went to a tonkatsu place in Shimosa Nakayama Station not for the Tonkatsu but for their miso soup with little clams. It’s refillable for free so I had my share of three bowls.

Trivia: Did you know that Tokyo DisneyLand and Tokyo DisneySea are not actually located in Tokyo? These two most visited amusement parks in Japan are located at Chiba prefecture which is next to Tokyo. The administration used the name Tokyo for obvious reasons.

Mango sorbet and egg pudding. Not exactly a good match but is much better when eaten separately.
